A writing lesson from Giles

I was in Waterstones just before New Year and found a Giles annual. I hadn’t seen one for years and couldn’t resist it. What struck me as I went through the book was that it was a lesson in how to write an article. You see the joke and that draws you into the picure and there you see Granny clouting someone with her umbrella, Aunt Vera is sniffing, trying to take a pill as the apples fall out of the paper bag, the twins are causing mayhem and the baby is biting the dog. A good article starts with what the dram or the main ittem of interest is and then, nce the reader is hooked goes on to elaborate and explain.
