America’s Cup

We were talking of the America’s Cup the other day and saying I had written quite a bit about the South African entry in the early two thousands reminded me that Royal Cape Yacht Club had had it’s own America Cup. Some poor American vessel had gone down in Table Bay leaving it’s masts sticking above the water. The club used the mast as a mark of the course for racing and when they did, sailed for the America Cup. When I wanted to take a picture of the trophy for an article, I was told that would not be possible. They’d lost the Cup!
You can’t win them all, can you?
