Ben Okri – I watched Ben Okri being interviewed – what a great experience. A story should be about life, not a genre. It should be political, military, ordinary and romantic as well as sad and successful. I loved it! It’s how I want to write, not caged in by some kind of market specification. I felt it with Miss Kirkhope in A Land Fit for Heroes and have struggled to get a sequel that feels right and not trite.
