King or Kaiser is a WW I story; the start of the series about how the Cape Corps came to be created and their subsequent adventures in Tanzania and Palestine. In my research, I have read many books and records of the Great War but find the contribution of the coloured and black people is barely mentioned. That is unfortunate because their stories are rarely the grim tales of the trenches but heartwarming tales of companionship and even laughter in the face of danger. Fired on but forbidden to shoot back, they faced war with a smile and a song in Africa, Palestine as well as France and Flanders. I hope their courage shows through in the novel.
