Scottish Historical Novel

I’ve been researching to do a follow up novel on Drover. It’s set in Scotland after Waterloo with all the unsettled returning soldiers and the early mechanisation of the cotton industry. At school we were taught about the Peterloo Massacre but not told it had it’s counterpart in Northern Ireland and Scotland. The annoying thing is that the Scottish part was the last armed insurrection in the British mainland and much of it in Lanarkshire, where I grew up, but for some reason, nobody mentioned the affair. (This damn machine wants me to change Lanarkshire for Lancashire). Anyway, it’s a story about the characters and the insurrection is only there to make it more dramatic. There are, of course, all kinds of government spies and false intelligence in the real story .
