Moneys worth from Bob Hope

I don’t remember what triggered the memory but my pal and I, from Scotland, were staying with my Irish Granny and went to see a Bob Hope film, expecting it to be funny. It was called the Cat and the Canary it turned out that there was this cat and a clock and when the cat appeared the clock struck thirteen at midnight and someone got killed. We were terrified and I suggested to my pal that we should leave. ‘I’ve paid sixpence to get in,’ he told me. ‘I’m no’ leavin’ till I’ve had my sixpence worth. We got our sixpence worth and more because Granny Clarke laughed and told us ghost stories just before we went to bed.
