Character development

People have asked where my characters come from. One friend even said she hoped she wouldn’t appear somewhere. She won’t, it’s mix and match, some people look dour but have a great sense of humour and even Shakespeare made Falstaff a big loud fellow. What I do is to detail the main characters on two sheets. Not just, are they tall or skinny, but, what do they have for breakfast? Do they wake up grumpy? Do their toes turn in when they walk? Do they dribble when they eat? I may not do it all before I start but I will when the story line is well developed and I know what the character has to cope with.
